“Rejuvenation is the gentle reminder that productivity begins with a pause.”
A vibrant and enriching Summer Camp was organized at Mata Jai Kaur Public School from 20th May to 30th May, 2025, offering students a well-rounded platform to explore, express, and enjoy themselves through a variety of thoughtfully curated activities.
For the Primary Wing (Grades 4 and 5), the first session included various outdoor and physical activities. Through Yoga, students were introduced to basic asanas and breathing techniques, helping them develop mindfulness and flexibility. The Gardening activity provided hands-on experience in planting and nurturing plants, fostering a sense of responsibility and environmental awareness. Athletics involved fun-filled races and team games, which not only promoted physical fitness but also instilled team spirit. Move and Groove was a lively dance session where students explored different styles like hip-hop and freestyle, encouraging rhythm, movement, and joyful expression. The Music session helped children hone skills pertaining to vocal music.
The second session focused on enrichment and creative development. In Brain Teasers, students solved puzzles, riddles, and logic games that sharpened their thinking and problem-solving skills. Personality Development activities involved confidence-building exercises such as public speaking, role plays, and group interactions, which helped enhance their communication and leadership qualities. In Calligraphy, students learned the techniques of beautiful handwriting using brush pens and nibs, cultivating patience and attention to detail. Craftopia offered opportunities to create unique items through origami, paper weaving, and recycled art, tapping into their imaginative side. Art Forms Fiesta introduced them to a variety of traditional and modern art styles including Madhubani and Warli, allowing them to appreciate the richness of artistic expression. In Tech Explorers, students dabbled in basic coding, explored educational apps, and tried digital storytelling, nurturing curiosity and digital literacy. The Language Lounge created a space for expressive learning through just a minute, vocabulary games, and creative writing in both English and Hindi.
Meanwhile, students from Nursery to Grade 2 engaged in age-appropriate activities such as Zumba, which combined music and movement to develop coordination and enthusiasm, and Craft, where they created colourful artwork using simple materials. They also enjoyed Virtual Tours of zoos, aquariums, and historical sites, which brought the world to their fingertips. In the Reusing Old Things segment, they learned to make useful crafts from discarded items, promoting eco-consciousness. The Storytelling Sessions were a favourite, bringing tales to life through expressive narration and visual aids, encouraging imagination and active listening.
The camp culminated in a vibrant Poster Making Activity, where students created artwork on themes such as “My Dream World,” “Memories of Summer Camp,” and “World Environment Day.” This final activity served as a reflection of all they had experienced and learned during the camp.
For the Middle and Senior Wing , the summer camp offered even more specialized and advanced activities, creating a dynamic platform for exploration and personal growth. Students could choose from a variety of outdoor and indoor activities that catered to their diverse interests.
In the outdoor activities, the students had the chance to engage in high-energy sports such as Football, Throwball, Basketball, Badminton, and Judo. Football, in particular, was a highlight, with students learning new techniques, refining their coordination, and engaging in friendly matches that promoted teamwork and sportsmanship.
The indoor activities were equally exciting. Students selected one club of their choice to explore in depth. The Theatre club gave them an opportunity to express themselves dramatically through acting and performance, while the AI club introduced them to the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and coding. Vedic Maths helped develop mathematical skills and problem-solving strategies, while the Vocal Music club allowed students to refine their singing and musical abilities. Those with an interest in percussion had the opportunity to learn the Tabla, while the Brass Band club offered students a chance to explore the dynamics of group musical performance. The Art and Photography club gave students the tools to tap into their creative side, learning photography techniques and engaging in visual arts.
These diverse activities in the Middle and Senior Wing allowed students to choose a path that best suited their interests and passions, providing them with an enriching and focused learning experience.
The Summer Camp was a resounding success, providing a blend of fun, learning, and discovery. The students participated with great enthusiasm and joy, and their radiant smiles spoke volumes about the memorable experiences they had.
